This Contractor Agreement (Agreement) is between Rentr (the company operating rentr.ae) and the contractor business or sole trader applying to provide maintenance services through Rentr (You or Contractor). It applies in addition to Rentr’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there’s a conflict between this Agreement and the Terms, this Agreement governs only in relation to your role as Contractor.
By accepting this Agreement at the end of onboarding, you confirm you have read and understood it and have authority to bind your business.
1. Independent contractor status
You are an independent contractor. Nothing in this Agreement, your use of Rentr, or any payment received through Rentr creates:
- an employer–employee relationship between you and Rentr
- a partnership, joint venture, or franchise
- an agency relationship except as expressly stated in Section 4 (where Rentr acts as a disclosed agent for collection of payment on your behalf)
You are solely responsible for:
- Your own UAE labour-law obligations toward your employees (end-of-service, leave, work permits, medical insurance, workmen’s compensation)
- Your own tax position (income tax in countries where applicable, VAT in the UAE if your turnover crosses thresholds)
- Your own pension or social-security contributions where applicable
You will not represent yourself as an employee, agent, or representative of Rentr to any third party.
2. Eligibility
To be listed on Rentr you must:
- Be a UAE-licensed business, or a sole trader holding a valid UAE commercial or professional licence appropriate to your trade
- Hold a valid DED trade licence (or equivalent free-zone licence) with activity codes that cover every trade category you list on Rentr
- Provide a copy of the trade licence at onboarding, and re-upload on renewal
- Hold a valid Emirates ID for the licence-holder; we store the last 4 digits in plaintext and the full number encrypted, and we do not retain the ID image
- Hold any trade-specific permits required for your category (e.g., Dubai Municipality Pest Control Permit; Dubai Civil Defence Contractor Card for fire / alarm; refrigerant-handling certification for AC work)
- Have a UAE bank account capable of receiving payouts in AED from Rentr’s payment partner
- Provide accurate and complete information, and update it within 7 days of any material change
We may suspend your listing immediately if any of these become untrue or unverifiable.
3. Document accuracy and ongoing compliance
You warrant on application and re-confirm with each Job that:
- Every document and statement you’ve given Rentr is true, accurate, complete, and current
- Every licence and permit referenced is valid for the period in which you are performing Jobs
- You will re-upload renewals before the existing document expires, or stop accepting Jobs in the affected trade category until renewal
- You will tell us within 7 days if any licence or permit is suspended, cancelled, or non-renewed
- Each individual worker you send to a Job holds the personal cards / permits required for that work, Rentr does not verify your individual workers’ cards
You consent to Rentr re-verifying any document at any time.
4. Service fee, payments, and payouts
4.1 Service fee
Rentr charges a service fee (excluding VAT) on each completed Job booked through Rentr, plus applicable payment-processing fees. The current rate is set out in your onboarding acceptance receipt and is visible at any time in your contractor dashboard. You receive the remainder.
4.2 Payment flow
Tenants and landlords pay through Rentr’s regulated payment partner. Funds move from the payer to your nominated UAE bank account, with Rentr’s service fee and the payment partner’s processing fee deducted automatically. Payouts follow the payment partner’s standard payout schedule for UAE accounts.
4.3 VAT
Where Rentr is VAT-registered, Rentr will issue you a tax invoice for the service fee charged. You are responsible for issuing your own tax invoice to the tenant or landlord for the gross job value if you are VAT-registered.
Marketplace VAT treatment and required invoice formats will be confirmed with UAE FTA.
4.4 Rentr acts as a disclosed agent for collection
For each Job, Rentr acts as your disclosed agent for the limited purpose of collecting payment from the tenant or landlord and remitting it (net of fees) to you via the payment partner. Rentr does not at any point take ownership of the funds; funds are held by the payment partner.
4.5 Refunds and chargebacks
If a Job is refunded, whether at your election, by mutual agreement, by Rentr ops decision, or by chargeback, the refund is debited against your payout balance. If your balance is insufficient, you remain liable to Rentr for the deficit and Rentr may recover this from future payouts or invoice you directly. Rentr’s service fee on a fully refunded Job will be returned to you. The payment partner’s processing fee is non-refundable.
4.6 Rate changes
We may change the service-fee rate by giving at least 60 days’ noticeby email or in-app message. If you don’t agree, you can stop accepting Jobs and terminate this Agreement before the change takes effect.
5. Quality standards and conduct
You agree that for every Job you accept:
- You will respond to the customer within the SLA stated for the Job category, typically 24 hours non-emergency, 4 hours urgent, 1 hour emergency
- You will arrive at the scheduled time, or give reasonable notice of delay
- You will perform work to a competent professional standard appropriate to your trade
- You will follow building access rules (NOC, building permission, civil defence rules)
- You will treat tenants, landlords, and other Rentr users with respect, no harassment, discrimination, intimidation, or rude conduct. Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, nationality, religion, marital status, or disability is grounds for immediate removal
- You will not solicit business off-platform from a tenant or landlord first connected through Rentr (see Section 10.4)
- You will offer a 30-day workmanship warranty for the work you perform, unless a longer warranty is required by law or a shorter scope is agreed in writing before the Job starts
- You will document completion of each Job with at least one post-work photo and a brief completion note
- You will not bring unverified or unauthorised personnel to the Job site
We may suspend your listing without notice if we receive credible reports of breach, pending investigation.
6. Insurance requirements
You are encouraged to carry, at your own cost, public liability insurance appropriate to your trade, and workmen’s compensation insurance for every worker you send to a Job in accordance with UAE Labour Law. Specific minimum coverage requirements and the obligation to provide a Certificate of Insurance will be introduced in a later version of this Agreement; until then, you remain solely responsible for any liability arising from your work under Section 7 (Indemnification) below.
7. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Rentr, its directors, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claim, loss, damage, fine, expense, or liability (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Work you (or any worker you send) perform or fail to perform at a Job site
- Injury to person or damage to property arising from your or your workers’ acts or omissions
- Your breach of any UAE law, regulation, permit condition, or this Agreement
- Any misrepresentation of your licence, permits, or worker credentials
- Any third-party claim that the work product infringes their rights
- Your tax liabilities
Your indemnity is not capped except where UAE law requires.
8. Background check, ID verification, and data consent
You consent to Rentr:
- Verifying your trade licence with the issuing authority where lawful
- Verifying your Emirates ID through any authorised verification service
- Storing the last 4 digits of your Emirates ID in plaintext and the full number encrypted
- Sharing your business name, primary trade category, profile photo, and aggregate rating with tenants, landlords, and the public marketing site
- Performing background and KYC checks via Rentr’s payment partner (including sanctions screening against UN, OFAC, and UAE Central Bank lists)
You also consent to Rentr’s Privacy Policy as it applies to data about you in your capacity as a Rentr user.
You are responsible for collecting the appropriate consents from your individual workers for the data you share with Rentr about them.
9. Ratings, reviews, and right of reply
Tenants and landlords may rate and review you after each Job. Reviews:
- Are the opinion of the user posting them; Rentr does not pre-screen
- May be removed by Rentr if they are unlawful (defamation under Federal Decree-Law No. 34 of 2021, hate speech) or contain personal data of third parties
- Will, where possible before publication, give you a right of reply of up to 200 characters that appears publicly alongside the review
- Cannot be removed simply because they are negative, unless they breach a Rentr policy
We aggregate your individual ratings into a public score on your contractor profile.
10. Suspension, removal, and termination
10.1 Grounds for suspension or removal
Rentr may suspend or terminate your listing, with or without prior notice, if:
- Any of the eligibility requirements in Section 2 becomes untrue or unverifiable
- You materially breach this Agreement or the Terms
- You are the subject of credible complaints, pending investigation
- You solicit off-platform business in breach of Section 10.4
- You are involved in any incident causing serious injury or significant damage
- You become subject to regulatory enforcement, tax-authority freeze, or bankruptcy
- Rentr is required to suspend you by UAE law
10.2 What happens on suspension
Pending Jobs may be re-assigned by Rentr to another contractor (with payments adjusted accordingly). Payouts already earned for completed work are not affected, except where Rentr is required to withhold them by law or to satisfy outstanding refund / chargeback obligations.
10.3 Termination by either party
Either party may terminate this Agreement by giving 30 days’ notice in writing. We may terminate immediately for material breach.
10.4 Anti-circumvention
For 12 months after a Job you complete through Rentr, if the same tenant or landlord engages you for further work that was solicited or facilitated by your Rentr relationship, you must process that work through Rentr. If you bypass the platform, Rentr may recover lost service fees plus a reasonable administrative fee.
Anti-circumvention period and remedy will be confirmed for enforceability under UAE law.
10.5 Survival
Sections 1, 4.5, 7, 8, 10.4, 11, and 12 survive termination.
11. Dispute resolution
Talk to Rentr first, email info@rentr.ae. We try to resolve within 10 business days. If unresolved, the dispute will be heard by the competent courts of Dubai, applying UAE federal law and the law of the Emirate of Dubai.
This clause does not prevent either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.
12. Governing law
This Agreement is governed by the federal law of the United Arab Emirates and, where not inconsistent, the law of the Emirate of Dubai.
13. Miscellaneous
